Shairanaa  Shaam 2023

Ghazal Manch Surrey successfully held an evening of poetry “Shairaana Shaam” in the Ghazal format on Oct 07th, 2023 at the Surrey Arts Gallery. The audience of over 300 spectators was transformed into an atmosphere of a century old “Ghazal Mushaira” from their day-to-day stress. The audience was treated to poetry of various genres from traditional to modern by both international and local poets: Jaswinder, Kulwinder, Sushil Dosanjh, Neelu Germany, Satish Gulati, Dr. Randeep Malhotra, Hari Tatley, Dr, Gurminder Sidhu, Gurmeet Sidhu, Sanjay Arora, Pal Dhillon, Manjeet Kang, Rajwant Raj, Gautam, Hardam Mann, Preet Manpreet, Dashmesh Gill Feroz, Krishan Bhanot, Baldev Seera, and Sukhjit Kaur.

In addition to the fifteen talented male ghazal poets, four female ghazal poets were presented, supported and highly regarded by the Ghazal Manch team. A female poet, Neelu from Germany, sang one of her ghazals and the audience were shocked with the quality of her beautiful voice, everyone was in awe. Our MC Naeem Lakhan from Pakistan did an outstanding job in keeping the audience engaged and entertained as he is well versed in Ghazal poetry in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

There is a buzz in the South Asian Community, it is everywhere from social media, TV, local newspapers including newspapers in India and other countries including UK, Australia, US, and Germany. Ghazal Manch Surrey team has been fielding calls from the public and the media since Oct 07th event. Ghazal Manch is receiving commendations for the quality of poetry, the atmosphere, organization, and the venue. Above all, we are proud that this year’s Art of Ghazal “Shairaana Shaam” was not only a success worldwide, but it was a true essence of a traditional “Ghazal Mushaira”.
