Gurmeet Sidhu Book Release

On August 21, 2024 Ghazal Manch Surrey held a book release event “Pind Ton Brehmand” for one of our members Gurmeet Sidhu at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey. Gurmeet’s brother Ajaib Singh Sidhu welcomed everyone to the celebration in presence of the entire Sidhu family. Singers Gogi Bains and Dr. Randeep Malhotra entertained the attendees with vocally presenting selected ghazals from the book.

Ghazal Manch General Secretary Davinder Gautam managed the stage and shared the literary journey of Gurmeet Singh leading to his book. Book review and analysis was presented by poets Inderjit Dhami and Preet Manreet. References of Gurbani in his book clearly reflected the depth of his knowledge of Gurbani. Spiritual and religious aspects of Sikhism in Gurmeet’s ghazals with reflections of sadhana adds depth to Punjabi literature. The multifaceted themes, language and maturity of thoughts in his ghazals make the title of this book “Pind Ton Brehmand” meaningful and appropriate. 

The book “Pind Ton Brehmand” translates into 'Village to Universe' was officially released by Sidhu family, Ghazal Manch Surrey, Literary folks and guests. Most importantly, Gurmeet’s father attended the event, and he participated in the official book release ceremony. 

Famous novelist Jarnail Singh Sekha, Dr. Prithipal Singh Sohi, Mohan Gill, Major Singh Randhawa, Baldev Singh Bath, Bakhshinder, Bhupinder Singh Malhi, Ashok Bhargava, Krishan Vector, Hardam Singh Mann, Krishan Bhanot, Kavinder Chand, Amrik Palahi, Parminder Swaich and Amrit Dewana also presented their views on the book.

In his reflection on the book, Rajwant Raj delved into the spiritual themes interwoven with multiple religious traditions, including Buddhism and Sikhism. He provided a thorough philosophical analysis, drawing on the ghazals featured in Gurmeet Sidhu’s collection. Rajwant praised Gurmeet for the beauty and depth of the ghazals, highlighting the profound philosophical insights they offer.

Gurmeet Singh Sidhu was emotional and praised the support he received from his family. The most heartfelt moment for everyone was Gurmeet recognizing his daughter for bringing positive impacts on his life. He thanked all the guests, relatives, family members, writers, colleagues and fans present in the event.
