Hardam Maan was born in village Ramunwal, Deliawali – district of Faridkot in Punjab, India. Hardam completed M.A. from Punjabi University, Patiala and he is one of the early founders of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Jaito in the district Faridkot. After 31 years of service in Punjab National Bank, he retired and moved to Vancouver, Canada with his family in December of 2012.
Hardam is a ghazal poet and a successful freelance journalist, and he holds a leadership role with Ghazal Manch Surrey in Media Relations. Hardam appreciated literary work of famous Punjabi novelist Gurdial Singh and Ustaad Deepak Jaitoi. Hardam’s work has been published in numerous Punjabi newspapers, managazines and broadcasted on the radio of the following cities in Punjab: Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Jalandhar Dhoordharshan, and many other channels. Hardam’s ghazals have been published in the prestigious ghazal collection "Katra Katra Mrityu" edited by Punjabi Sahitya Sabha (RJ) Jaito. Hardam published his own ghazal collections in two books "Ambran di Bhal vich"and 'Shishe De Akkhar'. In addition, Hardam worked closely with Punjabi poet Surinderpreet Ghanian and he edited work of Rupinder Mann.
Hardam is a respected member of the media community, and he has built a reputation with them locally and internationally. Hardam is often called upon to provide stories and write-ups on events and breaking news in the Indo-Canadian community in the lower mainland. Hardam’s literary experience serves him well in this field, his articles are engaging, and they exceed expectations of any newspaper, magazine, or website. He is a natural in capturing the moments at the right time and at the right place and his photographs tell a story. Hardam is a professional journalist, he is committed to ethically reporting stories in an alignment to the legalities pertaining to journalism.
