Sukhjit immigrated from Punjab to Canada as a young child, therefore, she is immersed in both Canadian and Indian cultures. Sukhjit’s background is in chemistry, she worked in the Alberta oil field industry, and she was successful in several different careers. Sukhjit is a seasoned professional in numerous leadership roles and in various fields; currently she is in a leadership role with TransLink. Sukhjit’s hobbies include cross stitching, hiking, and photography. Sukhjit’s passion is travelling and learning about the world through cultural travel, exploratory expeditions, and safaris.
Sukhjit has been writing poetry privately for years, she has accumulated a significant number of nazams and ghazals to publish a book. She is currently going through the process of selecting her poetry out of her collection to publish her book. Sukhjit has become a prominent ghazal poet in a very short time due to her natural talent in writing and presenting ghazal poetry. Sukhjit credits and appreciates her mentor ustad Krishan Bhanot for his continued support. Although she is well versed in both languages, it is challenging for her to write ghazal poetry. Sukhjit brings a very specialized distinctive writing style, leaving her mark on Punjabi literature..
