Ghazal Manch Surrey held their first event “Shaiarana Shaam” in September of 2018 at the prestigious venue Bombay Banquet Hall in Surrey. Ghazal Manch featured local popular  singer Gogi Bains who entertained the audience with his musical performance. The audience was then treated to an amazing evening of poetry. Local poets presented with their own fascinating genre. The audience was truly captivated by the performances of these talented poets with their unique personal styles. The atmosphere in the hall was filled with positive energy and the audience begged for more and for the poets to return to the stage.

The following poets presented their poetry: Narinder Bhagi, Dashmesh Gill Firoze, Krishan Bhanot, Bindoo Matharu, Hardam Mann, Jatinder Lasara, Kavinder Chand, Inderjit Dhami, Davinder Gautam, Rajwant Raj, Nadeem Parmar, and Jaswinder. Historically, in poetry events, people slowly start to leave during performances and only half of the audience remains to the end of the event. This was first live poetry event where no one left the event prior to the end. In fact, the spectators remained in the hall after the program to speak with poets and provide positive feedback about their experience of the program.

The success of Shairaana Shaam was shared by local media as it was broadcasted on television, articles in newspapers and it was heavily shared on social media. The event was a total success as we were able to engage and entertain the audience in the community, the lower mainland and from British Columbia.
