Surrey, 29 August 2023 Ghazal Manch Surrey organized a literary event at Newton Library Surrey to release and discuss the newly published ghazal book 'Supne Walian Akkhani' by Canada's famous Punjabi poet Paul Dhillon. The event was presided over by renowned scholar Dr. Sadhu Singh, Ustad poet Nadeem Parmar, Ghazal Manch president Jaswinder and poet Paul Dhillon.
At the beginning of the event, a two-minute silence-tribute was given to many Punjabi writers such as Harbhajan Hundal, Des Raj Kali, Baru Satwarg, Jagsir Viyogi, Subeg Sadhar and Shiv Nath who passed away last month. After that, Nadeem Parmar gave brief information about the book and author. Rajwant Raj, Krishna Bhanot, Dr. Harjot Khaira, Preet Manpreet presented their views about this book. Gautam read the Paper written by Narendra Bahia.
Famous poet and president of the forum Jaswinder said that Punjabi ghazal has become very popular. He said that not only today, the famous Punjabi poet Prof. Mohan Singh, Shiv Kumar Batalvi and even Amrita Pritam also tried to write ghazals but did not succeed. Talking about Paul Dhillon's poetry, he said that his poetry is very powerful. In his poetry, very beautiful poems related to the tragedy of Punjab and the love of the motherland have been presented with great intensity.
After releasing the book 'Supne walian Akkhan' Dr. Sadhu Singh, famous novelist Jarnail Singh Sekha, Mohan Gill, Bakhshinder, Angrez Brar, Hardam Singh Mann, Bhupinder Malhi, Shinda Dhillon, Nadeem also presented their views on the book and congratulated Paul Dhillon. In the end, Davinder Gautam, moderator of the manch, thanked all the guests, scholars, writers and literature lovers who attended the function.
