Dasmesh Gill Feroze immigrated from India to Canada around 1990 and from this point, the sleeping poet within him awoke or let us say that the feeling of migration revived the poetry within him. Actually, he inherited poetry from his father, late Mr. Gurcharan Singh Gill Mansoor.
Dashmesh currently lives in Abbotsford, BC and is very active in poetry circles. He writes beautiful ghazals in both Urdu and Punjabi languages. One of his special qualities is that even if he writes in two languages but he never mixes the languages with each other. In fact, time to time, he writes in a third language, hindi, therefore, he is a multitalented versatile poet. Two of his ghazal collections, 'Firoz' and 'Ghame Na Tamam', have been published in Urdu.
Dashmesh has acquired extensive vocabulary in all three languages, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. The passion of poetry runs in his veins, and it is quite apparent when he recites his poetry. He puts his heart and soul into reciting his poetry; while sweat and tears are a signature of his body language when he recites his poetry. As an audience member, he transports you with his presentation skills, it appears as if he is present in his words, and he himself is poetry. It is a treat listening to him, he leaves you in awe and it is inspiring to other poets.
