Gautam was born in Punjab, India. Gautam’s major in college was science and this is where Gautam entered the world of poetry. Gautam recited his poetry during the annual college festivals, and his talent earned him the name “Poet”. Gautam immigrated to Canada and the poetry travelled with his soul, but the poetry remained dormant until he met ghazal poets in Surrey.
Gautam and his co-ghazal poets formed Ghazal Manch Surrey, therefore, he is one of the founding members and this is where his poetry truly blossomed. Gautam has released his ghazal poetry book “Supne Saun na dhinde” and the book has been an asset to the Punjabi literature. There is versatility in his poetry and the subjects include: messages to humanity, astronomy as metaphors, family, relationships, love, and religion. Gautam’s preference of singing his ghazal poetry displays confidence and strength in his voice. Listening to Gautam’s voice and his poetry is truly a calming spiritual experience.
Gautam plays a significant role in the Ghazal Manch Surrey team as a secretary. Gautam also plays a major role in planning, organizing, and executing events held by Ghazal Manch Surrey. In addition, Gautam is a confident speaker, and he is often tasked with the MC responsibilities at book release events and at other literature focussed events. Gautam is conscientious and diligent in Ghazal Manch activities and his communication skills and collaborative nature is invaluable to the team.
