Ghazal Manch Surrey organized a book release event for one of their founding members Davinder Gautam; his first ghazal book 'Supne Saun Na Dinde'. The ceremony was presided by famous poet Nadeem Parmar, eminent novelist Jarnail Singh Sekha, Ustad Ghazalgo Krishna Bhanot, and Dr. Prithi Pal Singh Sohi.
MC poet Preet Manpreet welcomed the guests, writers, and literary scholars. Singers Meenu Bawa and Balraj Bassi entertained the guests by singing ghazals from Gautam’s book. Gautam shared his educational background of his degree and his literary journey including recognizing ustad Krishan Bhanot for mentoring him in the composition of Arooz. Gautam continued to improve the complexity of Behr and ultimately his ghazal with support of renowned prestigious poet Jaswinder and popular poet Rajwant Raj. Gautam treated the audience vocally by singing two of his ghazals and then his book 'Supne Saun Na Dinde' was released to the public.
Poet Rajwant Raj presented his analysis of 'Supne Saun Na Dinde'. Rajwant reflected on Gautam’s poetry of those dreams for which 'sleep' can be happily sacrificed. He said that despite Gautam’s scientific background, Gautam is a very emotional person. He observes every phenomenon with a very subtle vision to discover the deeper meaning of life and occasionally highlights human helplessness. Gautam is not an atheist and respects all religions, but he writes about religious hypocrisy tactfully in his poetry. There is respect and charm in his words, where his couplets have many layers consisting of being spiritual and eternal.
Professor Harinder Kaur Sohi stated that Devinder Gautam is a very serious poet, his poetry displays evidence of very mature poetry is found in his first book of ghazals. She shared some couplets from the book and especially discussed the interesting and very appropriate title of the book.
General Secretary of Central Punjabi Writers' Association and renowned scholar from Punjab; Dr. Sukhdev Singh Sirsa also described Devinder Gautam's poetry as the achievement of Punjabi Ghazal. Nadeem Parmar, Jarnail Singh Sekha, Krishna Bhanot, Dr. Prithipal Singh Sohi, Baldev Singh Bath, Inderjit Dhami, Kavinder Chand, Hardam Singh Mann, Mohan Gill congratulated Davinder Gautam and described this book as a great addition to Punjabi poetry.
President of Ghazal Manch Surrey and renowned Ghazalgo Jaswinder thanked all the scholars, writers, guests, literature lovers who participated in the event. He stated that Davinder Gautam is a poet as well as a very sincere and serious person. He appreciated Gautam’s extensive experience as his ghazal originates from a meditative tone. As such, his entire poetry is full of energy and such poetry is very welcome in Punjabi literature.
