While the plans were in progress for the next poetry event; an unprecedented Covid Virus brought the world to its knees for the following couple of years forcing the general public to isolate and cancel such events.
In 2022, Ghazal Manch Surrey gave the public what they had demanded an event on a larger scale at a bigger venue, they presented “Sureelee Shaam” at the Surrey Art Gallery. Once again, Ghazal Manch Surrey was fortunate enough to secure the talented Sukhdev Sahil from California. In addition, they presented a female singer, professor Sharandeep Kaur with an amazing voice with great vocal range. Both Sahil and Sharandeep’s performances were professional with great technical proficiency. Sharandeep had great stage presence and the audience connected with the lyrics. Shail once again captivated the audience and touched their souls with his melodious music.
The audience was treated to poetry of various genres from traditional to modern by both international and local poets: Jaswinder, Kulwinder, Dr. Randeep Malhotra, Gurmeet Sidhu, Rajwant Raj, Gautam, Hardam Mann, Preet Manpreet, Dashmesh Gill Feroz, Bindoo Matharu, Krishan Bhanot, and Baldev Seera, Narinder Bhagi.
The audience was completely engaged, there was a standing ovation mid-song in appreciation of their performances. In addition, Ghazal Manch presented Kulwinder from California. Kulwinder’s poetry drew in the audience like a wave of an ocean, he was modest yet brilliant at the same time. Once the theatre emptied into the hallways of the venue, people stood in groups surrounding the singers and the poets for photos. It was an amazing scene of appreciation of music and poetry.
